Ignacio Esplá , a Spaniard who moved to Panama in 1981, was born in Zaragoza, Spain, and educated there and in Barcelona. Esplá is one of Panama's best known artists, and has exhibited his art all over the world.
Esplá's works shows the natural panorama of his adoptive country, Panama, " expressive, imaginative, and colorful visions of trees, foliage, mountains, oceans, and distant horizons", according to Monica Kupfer a Panamanian art critic.
The artist achieves a daring balance between the dynamism of Abstract Expressionism and the realistic description of a botanical motif, which grants these paintings a place in the tradition of naturalist painting, writes Kupfer.
